Listing in LAX

I need to update about my Californian adventures but that can wait until I have a few more brain cells functioning.  Right now I’m sitting in the ‘relax lounge’ of Los Angeles International Airport, aka LAX.  I have a 6 hour wait so $25 for 3 of those hours in a really comfortable chair with internet, drinks and snacks included seems a-ok to me.  Especially since the rest of the airport appears to be undergoing some kind of major renovation.

So while I wait for my 10 hour flight to the UK (a week earlier than planned, no major reason, just ready to go) and watch the mist that’s creepily rolling in across the runway, here are some USA lists.

♥Things I Love/Will Miss About the USA/Canada♥

◊  My friends.  I can’t really get into this without gushing and being ridic but needless to say, I know some amazingly great people.

◊  Americans. I know they have their faults (there are 365 million of them so the percentage of wazzocky behavior is bound to be higher) but at the core Americans are nicer than Brits.  It’s true, may be hard for us to stomach as we like to think we have the moral high ground here but we don’t.  Even the bums are friendlier.

◊  Canadians.  Ummm hello? Only ever met one Canadian I didn’t like, next time round I’d like to be one please.

◊  Steamy roads and pavement vents.  Why does this only happen here? I don’t understand.

◊  Freight trains, that sound.

◊  The space. So. Much. Space.

◊  The size.  Big things, everything is B.I.G! As a tall person this appeals.

◊  Forever 21, Walgreens (even the ghetto ones), Nordstrom, shops in general, supermarkets.  The produce isles are fascinating.

◊  Cheap manicures and pedicures.

◊  Focus Strawberry & Kiwi Vitamin Water.  What will I do??

◊  New York.

◊  TV, Cake Boss in particular.

I could go on and on and on and on and on and on.  I knew I’d love it here.

♥Things I’ve Missed About the UK♥

◊  My family!!

◊  Peg!

◊  My friends!

◊  London. Oh first love city, I fell in love with many another city but still, nothing quite compares to ancient old you.  I can’t wait to pound your familiar streets and hate you after about 5 minutes.

◊  Channel 4 News, John Snow, Newsnight, The Guardian, Radio 4. British news, I looove you.

◊  Northern accents, Scottish accents, Irish accents.

◊  British food. It’s a myth that ours is bad.

◊  Marks & Spencer.

◊  Consistently bad weather.

◊  Complaining about EVERYTHING!

I Hate the Lack of Page Breaks Must Get a Proper Blog

So off I go, onto the next adventure.  The one called ‘being totally homeless and needing to find a job/sort out college/maybe be nice to men again/get a pet’.  First a 10 hour flight, dread.  I’ve become really phobic about flying since that episode on the the flight to Minneapolis, which is stupid because I used to love it.  Time for some valium, some arnica and nerves of steal.  Lets hope I sleep and arrive in London not feeling to weird as I still don’t know exactly where I’m staying tomorrow.  Oh well, it will be ok, because it has to be.  Maybe that should be my next tattoo.

Speaking of which! Here are a couple of not so awesome pics of my latest awesome tattoo.  It was done at Temple Tattoo in Oakland by Dan Gilsdorf of Atlas Portland, he’s great!

It’s nice to know that you have a home away from home, even if it’s in another country. I’m really honored to have been a part of your journey.
